Asking for some guidance?
« on: January 28, 2012, 09:45:52 PM »
Hi Everyone…

I’ve been playing around with the clasp for these Braidlets… I am trying to add a more finished looked to them.

My request from those who would like to comment is… which one do you personally like? What are your thoughts?  In addition, do you have any suggestions for a different clasp?  I am at a loss right now… Although I seem to be steering towards A…

Any and all comments would be awesome!  Thanks everyone!

You have them listed in my preference.  I like A,then B, then C.  I like easy of clasping for sure.  But A seems more finished.

I'm not going to be much help because I like the look of the magnetic clasps but don't know if I trust them so I would probably buy the hook clasp for security.

No Kimberly... that's a great point you brought up. My mom is testing the magnetic clasp for me, although it seems to be strong magnetic... lol

Thank you for your imput.  ;D

I prefer c, covered magnetic.  I have worn things with them and my problem has not been them coming apart, it's been that they can be hard to open.

Hi Lisa... That was my concern also... but after reading the proper way to open the magnetic clasp (that doesn't sound right..lol) I have found it to be really easy to put on and take off... and quite secure.  But, we shall see.... when my mother gets through with it... lol

Thanks everyone for your help... Thanks to you all!

I like the "A" clasp the best. It has a handcrafted look that fits with the bracelet best (imho). I'd also like to see this bracelet with a blingier (is that a word?) clasp, something that makes more of a statement and plays up the elegance of the pearl beads.

I think Joan's point is why I liked the magnetic clasp better.  I agree that if you gave the handmade class a little more heft, it would work well.  It is the proportion of the magnetic one that I preferred.

I like the look of the magnetic better - they look like the screw-in clasps that I have on some of my jewelry.  I'd really prefer they were the screw-in type, though, seems much more secure.

You will have to let us know when your mom finishes testing!  I've though about magnetic clasps many times but security, especially on heavier pieces, with as rough as I am on my jewelry has always been a concern.

Lisa, Larissa, and Kimberly ... Thank you for you for your help and suggestions.

As far as testing... C - wire wrapped spiral clasp, My neighbor has had it on for 3 weeks straight.  Yup... she has not taken it off... And it looks great!  Thats a ggod one!

For the A - magnetic clasp/ I called my mom, and she said she has had no issues with the clasp. In fact she loves it! She told me she has other bracelets with a similar clasp, but the bracelets are much heavier than mine. My bracelets are so light, sometimes she forgets she has it on. ;o)
Now she said she would sleep with it on over the next several nights... And report back to me!  LOL

I will leave an update in a couple days... Until then, thank you everyone, this is quite helpful!  I know I could count on you all to help me out!   ;D ;D ;D
