I'll be selling the .pdf and instructions in my HAFshop, but no freaking way would I sell the book itself.  I could charge $200 and probably just make $1/hour.  Well, it'd be faster now... since I designed the whole thing I had to figure it all out as I went.  But wow.  Most involved thing I've ever done.  Ever.  Bigger than the bar exam, I think.

It ties with a black satin ribbon & the cover is fleece.  I had no idea what to do on the cover, so I did a bit of "hand embroidery."

The first page.  The flower heads are color-matching and attach with velcro.  When the velcro's unstuck, the stems hold them on.  This page is all felt, and the pages of the book are lightweight denim.

The belt on the denim shorts buckles & unbuckles.  I have no idea why, but this one really intimidated me until I did it, and then it was really simple.

The car applique was really futzy, because I did it in a really soft aqua velour.  I'm sure my nephew will love feeling it, but it's a royal pain to work with for something like this.  Anyway, the wheels snap on & off.

I made this pocket for button practice out of an old shirt of mine.  It's a kind of stretchy knit, so it was also a bit of a pain, but I love the red and texture.

No busy book is complete, I don't think, without a page to teach kids to tie bows.  So I made this sneaker, which also intimidated me until I did it.  Honestly, the hardest part was going to the store to buy the eyelet maker.

The jacket is also an old shirt of mine, with a working zipper.

The clock on page 7 was a tough one too.  I used a shiny, stretchy shirt for the clock face, so you can imagine.  The eyelets came in handy on this one, too, since the hands move so Avery can learn to tell time.

It's only fitting, since when she was a kid I made my sister (Avery's mother) a cardboard clock with movable hands and taught her to tell time too.

Last, but definitely not least, another pocket with a button closure, this one a loop so it's different.  And out of dinosaur fabric, 'cause it houses the dinosaur puzzle I've posted about before.

So... my nephew's 2nd birthday gift!

It is wonderful and I'm sure he will love it!  I understand the hours thing, I have a few projects that I love but could never make any money off of and are just done out of love.

WOW that is amazing, it reminds me when Kimberly was making quilts for the boys. She swore it was the hardest thing she had ever made.

Thanks!  You guys rock, as usual.

Would you believe I showed the bean bags, dolphin crayons and pad, craft book, and this book, *with puzzle* to another attorney in my office... And she asked where the "toy" was, saying my nephew would probably like something "like a truck.". Like he doesn't already have all that storebought crap.

And like what I'm giving him aren't toys?!  Seriously?

Awesome, awesome, awesome! He is a lucky kid, and I can imagine how long it took to put that all together. It will be something to treasure and pass on.

You are a terrific Auntie!  :D

I brought the presents to my nephew last night.  My sister and brother-in-law were crazy impressed with everything.  Avery loved everything but was most impressed with the dolphin crayons.  Funny, since those were the easiest part

He actually refused to give up the blue one and took it to bed with him.

My mom just told me that my sis called her after I left, screeching for half an hour about how awesome it all was.  I think my mom's a little jealous that my sis seems more impressed with my presents than the ones she spent hundreds of dollars on.  Handmade wins, I guess.
