My Handmade Wedding
« on: November 15, 2011, 01:48:11 PM »
Hi Everyone,

Kelli here from Holiday Crafts and Creations! I don't know if any of you remember me...It's been a loooong time since I've posted anything here. But I have a good excuse! I got married in Hawaii this August, and then had our reception at home in September. So this year I have done nothing but wedding prep and decor making!

I thought I would share some of what I made for my wedding/reception with all of you :D

First off, I'd like to share my ring, which I bought on Etsy from an amazing artist: Adzia. She custom made it, and I would highly recommend her work!

My bouquet:

My bouquet was something I laid awake at night trying to figure out. I knew I wanted to make it myself, and not use real flowers since I wanted to get it to Hawaii and back. So after much thinking, I made it out of a combination of silk flowers, coffee filter flowers I painted, and wired lilies I made. I am pretty happy with the end result, but I would never want to make another one!!

The Cake:

For my cake, I couldn't just let the bakery decorate it up someone...Noooo, I had to make it more complicated and decide to add flowers on the side. But not real flowers, because we weren't having a florist. So this also took me forever to figure out. I decided to go with wooden flowers that I found on Etsy. But when I got them, I wasn't happy with the purple color. So because I didn't have enough to do it guess...I decided to spray paint them myself! (I have no idea if that is the best idea since they are going in food, but no one got sick!)   :-\  And of course I also made the topper out of them too. So anyway, here it is:

General Reception Decor:

We were having the reception in my husband's parents new pull barn/garage/dance hall thing. So I wanted to make it as special as I could. Which meant a ton of decorating!

First off, the centerpieces... Oh my goodness the centerpieces! I love how they turned out, but WOW! I would never ever attempt it again. They took FOREVER. I was literally still making them the night before the reception. But that's not to say I hadn't been working on them for ages. I could ramble on awhile on them...so I'll just shush and post the pics!

The Other Table Settings:

Of course I had to be crazy and make every last little thing, so all the favors and place cards and table numbers were made too. My family really thought I had lost my marbles...I think I had!

Arbors and Other Stuff:

My day job is working at my family's Sprinkler/irrigation store, so when I decided I wanted arbors, we figured out a way to make them out of PVC pipe and fittings. I was a little unsure, but after we threw enough greenery at them, they didn't look too bad...

And then here's some other decor and things:

And Finally....

I have to mention the ceiling! It was a group effort, and looked a lot better in real life than in this picture. My poor father-in-law also fell off the ladder helping put it up. Thank goodness he was ok, but he wasn't in the best shape for the reception. I don't know how he didn't break something....but just thank God!

And so that was my wedding! I'm sorry for the millions of pictures! I just am happy with how it went and wanted to share :D I hope you've enjoyed looking through it! Also, mostly all these pictures were by my photographer, so it would be best if no one took any without contacting him. I was very happy with his work!

Well anyway, Thanks for taking a look! Hope you enjoyed!

Kelli

PS: I'm not the best at making the pictures line up nicely! I'm sorry they're kinda all over the place with size and whatnot.

First, congratulations!!!  That's huge!

Second, you are insane.

Third, you are insanely talented.  Yours might be one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever seen, and that includes my own.

Fourth, where are the photos of you and the groom?!

First off, congratulations on your marriage and wishing you many years of love and blessings!  Second, your work is amazing!  I did a lot for my wedding, but I think you would have had to commit me if I had tried to do all that you did!  Beautiful and perfect in every way.

Wow Thank you so much everyone! I'm so glad everyone liked the pictures!

Haha yeah I know I'm insane...I felt like a crafty bridezilla! I pretty much had a panic attack everyday for several months. I really felt like I needed to be committed! It's like I'd get one idea after the next and it kind of snowballed. My family tried to stop me, but I was determined to get every project done in time!

Sooo glad it's over! In a good way though of course.

I guess I'll share a picture or two of Erik and I if you'd like :D

From Hawaii:

And Reception:

Yay! I was really happy with how the pictures turned out! Both photographers did a good job I think.

It's so fun to share the pictures! I'm glad you guys enjoy looking at them! After some time has went by, my mom and I are thinking of starting a wedding website. So we will at least have some pictures to start off with! It's good to take a little break though. I've been all weddinged-out for awhile :P

You looked like a princess!  And Erik is cute (and amusing, since my husband is named Eric)!

If it's possible, you guys are even more gorgeous than the stuff you made.
