With the  new shop coming, could we have a WISH LIST thread here in the forum?  A place where buyers and artists/sellers could connect?  It might be a great way for different facets of this community to relate to each other.

The shop itself will have a wishlist. But I'm open to more ideas, can you explain in a little more detail so I can understand better?
Thanks

Betty buyer comes in and wants something she can't find.  It would be nice to have a thread where she could describe what she's looking for and we all could point her in the right direction, whether it was a discussion of one of us making her item or even letting her know where it already exists.

There doesn't seem to have been many requests lately; I hope that's because you all love the site as it is!  Having just joined and feeling my way round the forums, I have a request.

I've found myself reading multi-page threads this weekend and, because I'm using my iPad, the screen's not that big.  When clicking on to the next page, I'm having to 'pinch' up the screen massively so that I can hit the next page number to move long.  If I don't make the text bigger, my fat fingers hit two or three page numbers at once and I get lost!

Is it possible to have a 'next page' option, in a button or slightly larger text from the page numbers? The 'next' button on the right hand side takes you to the next thread, not the next page in this thread.

Thanks. I love the forums and I love the shop.  As soon as I replace the hard drive in my laptop, I'm going to start setting up my shop here.  :-*

Kath

The only way I know to move to the next page is with the numbers in the threads. Now I do not have any ipad, so I have never personally tried it. I guess I need to borrow an Ipad from someone to see how we can improve that. Glad you are looking to open a shop. To do that all you need to do is go to the shop and make sure you are logged in, hit the my handmade account top right> then my account on the left> then become a vendor, you can then set up your subscription if you haven't already.

I have to wait till I fix my laptop to start listing items, as I can't upload images from the iPad.  It must be a 'flash' based tool, which of course, famously and rather annoyingly, isn't supported on iOS.  I can wait.  Getting to know everyone on the forums is fun in the meantime.
:)

I have the same thing when I read from my phone - have to enlarge each screen to read it and/or get to the next.  I've just gotten used to it, and it's pretty common on small screens.

I have a suggestion/request.  Could we have a separate section for sharing our latest blog posts only?  Not as part of the blog ring, and they tend to get lost in the bigger sections.  I love to read up on everyone's blog posts, but I know that I am not following everyone here.  Having a section for daily posts would just make it easier to keep up.  ;)

I hear what your asking for, just trying to figure out what would be the best way to handle it. I don't believe I want to create another section of the forum, just for that as I do not believe it will get enough use to warrant a new board. What might be the best is if we create a post under general discussion. Just like the what are doing today post, except what are you writing today, or latest members blog posts, or something like that. Looking for suggestions here....

A new discussion thread could definitely work.

Humbly requesting.I understand it is a sensitive issue for some so I am trying to be delicate about it. If along with resellers we also still discourage infringement, can their be some sort of extra notice of that? I know it is in small amount here but I am seeing it a bit more as in angry birds and super Mario etc.

Yes,I suppose it is hard to prove so really just an extra reminder at signup would be great. Something with specific examples so people know they can't sell what is basically merchandise without a license, perhaps mentions that fair use only applies to non commercial usage if I understand correctly.

Itis just a small concern now,I just want it to stay mostly a place for true handcrafted ideas.

thepeasantpailfull I hear you. I'm just not a copyright lawyer. We had an item earlier that was copyrighted, the owner contacted us, we messaged the vendor and had the item removed.
Now someones' handmade interpretation of an item that is copyrighted may be against our terms of use. See item below
9.      Any item that you don’t have rights to sell such as copyrighted material.(Are not allowed)
My problem is that I do not know what copyright infringement is. I do know that as it stands now, we will remove any copyrighted material when contacted by the  owner of the copyright.
It is something that I think we need some more education on. What actually counts as copyright infringement.

Larissa, do you have any experience with this?[/b]

I actually don't know anything about copyright or patent law.  The patent bar is a whole separate specialized exam.

I have done some reading, though, because I also was concerned about, for instance, vendors who use licensed fabric to make things.  I found this:  http://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/using-tradmarked-fabric-for-my-own-handcrafted-ite-449045.html

And this:  http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/crm01849.htm
http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/crm01854.htm
http://www.justice.gov/usao/eousa/foia_reading_room/usam/title9/crm01851.htm

Honestly?  Call your county bar association's lawyer referral service & tell them you need to talk to a patent/copyright lawyer.  Take the 1/2 hour consultation you get (it's like $35) and ask them.  It's better to ask than get in trouble... 'cause my gut says using Disney fabric, for instance, to make stuff to sell is a really bad idea.

I sure don't know anything about copyright law BUT I do know that I have come across fabric that will have "For Personal Use Only" on the selvage which I can respect - bad thing is when I buy a fat quarter many times there IS no selvage and you have to use common sense and maybe even err on the safe side and don't use it if there is a question in your mind.
