Biggest Project to Date
« on: August 10, 2011, 06:52:30 PM »
Thought I would give you an idea of what I am up against right now.  As many of you know, I work for a friend at her deli over the summer since there is no substitute work...keeps me busy and gives me my play money to take the kids out and such.
Recently I was contacted by a woman from Hong Kong asking about a large order.  Honestly, my first thought was scam!  But, on the one in a million chance that it was legit I answered.  After a number of emails, she purchased a sample of my work...starting to sound real now!  After a number of other emails and a ton of sourcing for the perfect glass I landed an order of 160 champagne glasses, each painted with white roses.
Now in theory, this is doable, even in a time crunch...until I got the boxes!  This is what I walked into the other day and started to feel just a bit overwhelmed!

Mind you, my son is 10 years old and tall for his age!
Next I unpacked all the glass from the peanuts (which are now stuck to everything in the house) and ended up with this...

Not one to let things sit (and there is the shipping time issue so I want them to be on their way as soon as possible) I dove in.  The result is 24 glasses done and only 136 left to go  :-\

I may lose my mind before these are shipped!

Wow that is a lot of glasses!  I'm glad though that you've got so many done already!   ;)

Ha!  Nobody could help me find my mind.  I think I left it somewhere between ages 17 and 26.

72 down and 88 to go.  I found out that I can paint in sets of 24 and it takes me about 3 1/2 hours.  I would be able to do more in a day, but I start to go cross eyed after that.  :-\

Yes, but I hate having them around.  Her deposit basically bought the glass so my profit is nowhere to be seen until the order is done.  That and I don't like unfinished stuff like this haunting me.
