« on: August 02, 2011, 09:19:56 AM »
Yesterday I finished up a skirt for Kara that is super twirly!  It's a nice light cotton so it's perfect for summer!

Is that basically a big rectangle with an elastic waist? Or is there shaping involved?

Have you ever knit a pinwheel sweater or blanket?  It's basically the pinwheel design to make it flouncy!

No, I have not. My knitting is so basic. I haven't had the brain function to branch out from that really.

Ah.  It's actually really easy.  For a basic pinwheel you would start off with say 10 stitches.  To make the pinwheel you could knit 2, yo, knit 2 yo, and so on until you reach your starting point again.  Knit a round plain and then on your next round, knit 3, yo, knit 3 yo and so on.  You basically do this until you have a buttload of stitches and a beautiful pinwheel pattern!

I think I could manage that. I'll have to give it a shot in the near future. Thanks! ;)

hehe you're welcome!  when you bind off you'll have to do it very loosely or else it ends up looking like a toilet seat cover.  that's what happened to me the first time I knit a pinwheel blanket  :D

Had to laugh at this one!  I can just imagine a giant toilet seat cover that was supposed to be a blanket!  Would love to explain that one to people
