Are you growing any vegetables this summer?

I need to get my onion sets in the ground.

Do you do that in the dead of winter?  Or are you in a warmer climate?

I'm in Texas. Yes I usually plant onions, spinach, and radishes around this time of the year.
I took me a cutting off of one of my tomato plants last year before the heat killed it. Just to see if I could get it to root, and if so how it will do this year when planted. Well it rooted and it's ready to go as soon as it warms up. Around March or April. Hopefully it will produce and produce earlier before it get hot. Store bought tomatoes can't compare to home grown. Mmmm.

I agree with home grown tomatoes... Delicious! I can't wait for spring to start a new crop... Maybe I'll try Cukes (LOL... ) this year!

I'm jealous.  We had snow last night.

I wish we would get some snow. It has been a really mild winter, afraid to see what this summer will be like. Just hope it won't be like last summer. That was miserable, and the heat killed a lot of grass, trees and shrubs. I never remember having a summer that bad.

My friend just moved to Austin for work... she told me last week she had Tornado warnings... Yikes!

I use to go through Austin to visit my daughter (she lives in Wimberly) but now I cut off at round rock and go around the edge of Austin. I thought traffic was bad here in Ft Worth. But Austin is worst
The weather is getting really weird. We can have tornado's anytime now. Use to be only in the spring. The last couple yrs we have even experienced some tremors.

Jealous!  I would love a greenhouse, but we can't have one until the kids decide they are willing to give up their playset so I can have that space back.  In the meantime, it is supposed to be nice today so I want to get out and at least get some of my beds turned over and ready for plants.

I am also from the south and have already begun the preparations for my garden spot. I have already set out my onions and have my tomatoes, peppers, squash, eggplant, and cucumbers growing in little pots in the house.

I can't wait to put them in the ground and get many returns for the loving care they have received so far.

We started some of the "seed starters," but Eric needs to get on the ball to do more.  I say he needs to do it 'cause I've got a severely brown thumb and am afraid to get too close to the plants lest I kill them all.
