Need help from our Artfire Members!!!
« on: July 18, 2011, 12:12:38 PM »
I was just reading this post http://www.artfire.com/modules.php?name=forums&page_no=1&op=view_topic&tid=40977  on the Artfire forums about the the contest for the free shop for life on the Beading Gem.
This one guy posted about security threats on the HAFshop and honestly he doesn't know what he is talking about. He mentioned the registration page is not secured that people could get your important information!! What he failed to understand is that the only info on the registration page is a username and a password, the password is encrypted. The subscriptions are set up on Paypal which is secured, and all the sales are handled through paypal which is secured. He also made a comment about an out of the box software, our site was developed from the ground up with custom code so once again he doesn't know what he is talking about.

Anyway I do not have an artfire account anymore, so I was hoping if some of our lovely members would take a second and go post on this thread and set him straight.

Thanks so much, but he was making me mad
I appreciated all the help in advance!
Andrew

I won't be an Artfire member much longer since I won't pay for pro there and my shop has been stagnant forever, but I posted.  Glad we snuck the comments in under the wire before the non-pros got booted.

Gotta love it when people run their mouth about things that they know nothing about...and cracks me up even more when they admit they know nothing about a site and people still treat them like their word is law.

I'm leaving with my two little shops. I am unable to pay for any site. It saddens me to read the harsh things being said. We know we have been ousted but we are not dirt because we can not pay. I was Pro for a time but had to go back to Basic.

I had an Artfire account when they first opened. I had 1 sale there in the almost 2 years I was there. Did they bother to give notice to the basic account holders about being booted? Frankly, they NEVER should have had them to start with. It's not cheap to run a site of any size, and everyone must carry their share. I think they should have tiered pricing instead.

This guy is really burning me up about this secure registration page. Etsy's registration page is not secure, 99% of the websites out there registration is not secure. Unless your giving out credit card info or personal banking info it doesn't need to be. What a moron! Sorry I digress
Anyway thanks to Larissa for posting, anymore Artfire people out there want to post in this thread and give us some help?
Thanks

Thanks Haffina, I knew I didn't like him but I guess it seems like he has done this kind of thing before.
Well the more positive posts we can get there the better. We is the rest of your artfire contingent?

Thanks for the support over there.  I've written and deleted a few replies on the thread, but I really don't want to get into a pissing match with this guy as it seems that no matter what logic anyone puts in front of him he is going to ignore it and say what he wants.

Maybe after I get back from shopping with my son (it is his 12th birthday today) I will have formulated a response.

OK - I posted. Wanted to do it last night and I was told the site was down and the "monkeys" had already been notified. I could not believe it. Imagine working in their IT department and being called a monkey!!!
