Input on some chainmaille ear cuffs :)
« on: April 22, 2009, 09:06:38 AM »
Thought I would post my new ear cuffs and see what people thought. :) I had a lovely model for these. :) i am definitely making more.

These are aluminum. The first one uses Moroccan agate and the second one uses Fresh water pearls.

Great work all of you. :) Keep it  up!

Lovely...haven't seen anything like this design before.  Are they heavy to wear?

Thanks, :) They are made from aluminum, so the are very lightweight even with the stones. :)

I haven't worked with aluminum.  Is it expensive?  Does it mar very much?

Those are pretty neat, are they comfortable to wear?

Very interesting. I like working with anodized aluminium... lots of colour with very little weight.

Aluminum is not expensive and it's lightweight and it's so easy to work with it doesn't get marred unless you 'death grip' it.

As a beginner, where would be the least expensive place to buy aluminum wire?  I haven't seen it advertised.

Try TRL, their prices usually can't be beat although I don't know that much about aluminum.

Maybe we should buy stock in TRL!!!! ;D  Does everyone who makes maille buy their rings or wire from them?

I get my gold and silver rings from TRL. No complaints so far, and their prices are certainly good. Shipping is a bit slow, but they're in Canada so I blame US customs. They've got a wide selection at good prices, but I have heard some people say their customer service isn't so great. I've never had a problem, though.

I dont, but thats because I'm in Australia, but TRL actually suggest who to go to if you are in Australia..and they happen to be a favourite of mine LOL

That's the sign of a great company, when they give information on where to find something in another area.
