What are you doing today?

Several  years   ago   the   city  of  Knoxville  imposed  an  extra  penny  sales  tax  on  items  bought in Knoxville.  I  was  living  in Oak Ridge at  the  time  and my sister  would  come  to  OR  to shop.  She  said  she  had  to  keep  Randy (the mayor)  from  stealing  her  pennies.  My  son  who  was  5  at  the  time  really  thought  someone  over  there  was  stealing  his  aunt's   pennies.  If  he  had  money   to  spend   he  didn't  want  to  go  to  Knoxville  even   though   there  were  more  stores  and  nicer  ones.   We  had   a  lot  of  fun  at  that  little  guy's  expense.  My   sister   was   actually   coming   to  have  lunch  and   go  shopping   with  her  2  sisters   who   lived  in  Oak Ridge.

Today...hmm not too much, had quite a relaxing day


Went out for a wander to find some stones and painted them with a base white and started some designs on them now. Some are ready for varnishing and then my son and I can go out and hide them all around for the local love on the rocks. See where they end up.

Ohh today..I think it will be card making galore. My son and I have a craft stall in our local town on the 18th August and we need to get plenty made up and ready.


All the usual mundane chores to do and my living room looks like a bomb has been dropped. Im not the tidiest of crafters :O

What a nice project with the stones! They remind me of pysanki (the Ukranian Easter Eggs)I've been busy with craft shows, drying tents after a wet break-down and trying to find time for dyeing yarn and making more candles. Hope everyone is having a productive summer.

Hi, everyone! Long time no post (again, I seem to have that habit of disappearing and lurking, oh well).  Had my first hip dysplasia surgery back in September, so I'm currently laid-up and off work for a while.  I was supposed to be going back to work mid-December, but now, it won't be til the mid/end of January (apparently, my right hip decided to stress fracture on me so the non-weightbearing timeframe got extended by 6 weeks). Hopefully, this will be the only extension to my time-off/no pay from work, but, unfortunately, there, if the stress fracture does not heal up on its own by my next appointment w/specialist, then we have to go back into surgery and he'll put screws into that area of the hip as well. Soooooo, I've been stuck on the sleeper sofa for months working on various things to help further my goal of getting out of my job and into something better.  Jewelry is still on-hold right now (though I did just buy some gorgeous petrified dinosaur bone cabochons I'm really excited about) and the writing is going slowly, so I've been doing some digital painting in hopes to get some work as a freelance illustrator.
