Sounds like a great idea!  I've got a ton of cards, so I may just send you a few. :)

We have done this before and I'm not sure if it works or not. Business cards will unfortunately most likely end up in the trash. What we have done many times is send small gifts with the business cards. Then had other people in a group do the same thing. So say twenty people send each other these little trinkets with business cards.
We would then take these and make little gift bags and when we had a sale, whether it be online or at a craft show, we would hand them out. The customers love them. We still do it but just with our own stuff. We posted a thread  here http://handmadeartistsforum.com/forum/index.php/topic,3020.0.html in March trying to do something similar but it didn't take.

I personally think it is a good idea to do little goodie bags, it really makes the customer smile and they will remember you, whether they remember any one that you are promoting or not, who knows. But if you do an exchange like that it is a lot of work.

Business cards are easy, maybe it would be best to stick to that, who knows if you get a small return it is better than nothing right.

I still think you ought to do it, if you can get people to jump in. It is tough out there and every little bit helps. I just wanted to give out our experience with this as Kimberly has done similar things. The best part about it, especially with goodie bags, is that the customers love it.
Right now we have goodie bags with magnets and an acorn ornament that Kimberly made. Our customers are like kids in a candy store with the giveaways.

So I think it's a great idea, it's just like anything else, getting support and having people follow through.

I've never had stickers before, but that doesn't mean that I'm not all for trying something new to ME. They are on their way from Vista Print, and as soon as I get mine, I will get them out to Laura.

I personally had two reasons for ordering them, one was Laura's idea, and the other was to put them on my boxes as they go out with orders. My thoughts were that my customers would be less likely to throw out the boxes than the business cards. Hope my thinking isn't too far off on this  :-\

I did a similar thing with my band, because yes, business cards get thrown out.  I started putting stickers on cheap lighters and passing them out.  I got more business that way, and from people who I never gave the lighters to.  And you are right, every little bit helps right now.  So send em out to me, I will get them to people how ever I can.  Thanks again for all the input.

I think this is a very good idea!  I wonder - if the sticker offered a special discount, too, would it maybe be incentive for someone to at least check out the shop and potentially make a purchase?  I'd be interested in joining in on this and doing it for others, however I rarely have any sales that require shipping so I'm not sure I'd be very effective for anyone else!

And one more point - it would offer some "tracking" on the effectiveness of the sticker if there was a discount offered ONLY via that promotion.
