GRAND OPENING
« on: July 09, 2010, 07:36:55 AM »
We set the date for our grand opening of Hollyhocks, LLC for Monday, August 9.

Hollyhocks, LLC is a brick and mortar store in Mebane, NC. We will be selling handmade items from mostly local artists. Been working really hard on getting the space ready. If you'd like to see our progress, you can visit our website at http://hollyhocksllc.com
I do plan on printing the HAF banners and posting them in the store since some of our new vendors have Etsy shops.

I've also set us up on twitter
http://twitter.com/hollyhocksllc

and on facebook.  Can't seem to get the link to work, but if you search hollyhocksllc, you should find us.
Any support you can throw our way would be much appreciated!

How fun (I think!) wishing you the best with the shop and lots of sells!

Oh, good grief!  I really need to watch that.  I got an htc Incredible, which I LOVE, but it's got auto-correct for spelling.  It's pretty good and DOES learn your language as it goes, but I have to get used to checking and making sure it's not changing what I say.  I had posted from the phone on that one.  :D

It is fun but also a lot of work! We are getting pretty good response to our ads for vendors. I love that we can help out some local artists sell their stuff and get more exposure. Some sell online and some do not.

Thanks for all your well wishes too everyone! I appreciate the support!

I got the permit for the sign. The people at the sign shop are so great! They are going to start on it right away and she thought they would have it installed by the weekend. When it's up I'll take a picture so you all can see.

This is our new sign. It's on the wall just above the steps that go down to our shop. It is 3 feet wide, 2 feet high pan face. (it sticks out about an inch, rather than being flat) It's aluminum.

We had a "soft" openeing on Friday, Aug.5. The other signs hadn't arrived yet, but some pepople found us okay. Many of them were other shopkeepers from the street, the ladies from our bank, etc. We only had 2 sales, but frankly it was more than I expected. Saturday was much, much better. There was a festival geared for kids, mostly all free. Pony rides, craft booths, those huge blow up things they jump in, face painting (not nearly as nice as yours Larissa). We had our other signs out, including the loaner sandwich board from a shop  few doors down. We had just over 50 people and many of them purchased stuff.
Personally, one woman from the Alamance Arts Council really liked my wire work pieces and is going to recommend them to their board as a new consignor in their gift shop. They only take 30%, I get 70%. Not a bad deal at all, and if it makes me sell more jewelry, than I will be a VERY HAPPY CAMPER! I'll let you know what happens with that. One last thing, if you would like to keep up with store news, we have a facebook page at: http://facebook.com/hollyhocksllc
twitter: http://twitter.com/hollyhocksllc
blog: http://hollyhocksllcshop.blogspot.com
Thanks for your support everyone!
