I've stabbed myself with glass, felting needles, sewing needles, etc and I can tell you the throwing pliers is much less painful...just be sure to aim at a wall with no glass and no people or animals in the line of fire.

On a fun note, you have a daily treasure hunt of rings that go flying-they end up in some very odd places.

Since I only use a 16lb sledge hammer to do all my jewelry making I don't dare throw it too much!... :o

My dear one...you are trying to start with a mandela...one of the most "plier throwing" weaves I've ever done.  Nothing like starting at the top of the pattern chain!  My advice, unless you don't value your sanity is to begin with a Byzantine or one of the Persian weaves to get the hang of ring direction before you jump into the mandellas.  They are beautiful, but not as easy as they look to get to fit tight.

I figures that I would try to start at the top, lol. I need suggestions to some of the EASIEST patterns to learn with. I bookmarked some of the above sites, but I am definitely a "noob" as far as easy is concerned.

Start with Byzantine or Euro 4 and 1. I have byzantine kits that come with rings and a tutorial here http://chainmaillebymboi.com. I only have one tutorial right now been a little busy here to make more right now but I will eventually.

Kris:

Bent pliers are cheaper and quieter to hold rings than I imagine Andrew would be.   ;)

Definitely use pliers-Mr. MBOI is cute but it can be a high price to pay to keep him around! :-*

Very pretty pattern.  I haven't tried chainmaille, yet.  But I'm sure that will be something I try over the summer.  But then I have enough trouble holding onto a single jump ring when trying to make my stuff.

I've never thrown pliers.  But I did throw my slippers out of the room once when quilting because my sewing machine kept jamming.  DH happened to be coming up the steps and passing my craft room door at the time, and the slippers kind of whizzed past him... :o

You made my morning...I am picturing his face as a fuzzy blur whizzes past his head!  Priceless
