Facebook Member Spotlight - Info & Sign Up

The basic idea is on the same lines as the Blog Ring but that the member will be promoted on people's Facebook page and/or profile.  I thought we could run it in 4 day blocks as that gives us a bit of a run at it!  The next member is then announced and get's written about.

This is the sign up thread, so those that want to be featured, please post below with a link that you want to be featured in people's write ups.

This is for members of the Handmade Artist forum and you need to have a Facebook page too.

This is a bit of an experiment and by no means set in stone, but can only really succeed with participation.  I'm not going to be going round with a cattle prod but what goes around comes around and the more you participate the more you will get back in terms of visits to your own web presences and, hopefully, sales!

For those who are new to Facebook, I'm going to post a Guide to Posting Links on our facebook page, with nice photos so you can see how to do it.  This isn't meant to insult your intelligence, but be of help!

If anyone has any questions or comments then please feel free to Post on here or PM me.

The forum and shop facebook page will support you, also if you check in the links section, you will see we have a whole bunch of FB members.

I don't blog, cause there's just not enough time in the day to do so AND create, so I'd rather create... but I can and do log onto facebook (will plan to be more active on the "company" facebook page) and participate in this!

It comes up on both my home page and my fan page.  I am kind of FB stupid since they changed things to be more like twitter.  ugh, can't anyone have original ideas any more?

Don't forget, there are basically two ways to send a message to your page fans - the wall post, and the update.  To send an update, you go into "edit page" and look down the right side.

I do have a blog, but an terrible at updating it. I do however, get on FB at least once a day or more so this is awesome for me. Thank you for setting it up.

facebook pages are artist oriented, etsy's all my creations, my blog is more about me and my life

but I also have a shop on artfire and here ....so whatever works for each page owner...smile

I'm a complete technoklutz, although I think I've picked up a fair bit during the past year - if you'd told me last January I'd have "made" my own website before the end of the year, I'd have laughed loud & long! OK, so I used Mr Site's software, but it's still "mine"  ;D

If you don't object to a little handholding along the way, I'd love to join in.

For starters, I can't work out how to get my FB page to have a decent URL, despite building up to over 100 members?! It doesn't bode well, does it? lol  ;) Still - I'll try my best to help promote. Meanwhile, I'll pop round and "fan" all your pages while I'm here.

Matt, you don't need a Page unless you want to have one, you can post on your personal page about the Artist of the Week, then when it's your turn, you decide which link you want members to include in their write-up, it could be your FB profile, your Etsy shop, anything!

Louise, I'm writing a bit of a guide to FB at the moment which will hopefully help newbies, which you probably aren't with over 100 fans!  I'll look into the URL thing, as it's a while since I changed mine and I can't quite remember.
