A new bag!

I needed to make a gift for my best friend who has a problem with liking everything in excess (which includes the size of her purses lately), so I made her a nice small purse (that she can even use for some of her knitting supplies if she feels so inclined!). I think that the final dimensions came out to be approximately 10"x7"x2.5". I hadn't made a bag like this before, so I'm quite pleased with how it turned out. :)

Thank you! She does in fact love it, & the fabric was actually bought for another bag I was going to make for her birthday! I had to dig forever in my nightmarish craft room (now just known as the "mess room") to find it. :)

HA HA HA HA!!!  I'm glad I'm not the only one!
The bag is nice!  Here's some food for thought for you, since you can sew (I have a $2000 sewing machine with all the bells and whistles that I've used once).  My Mom made shopping bags for everyone last Christmas~ you know like for using instead of the plastic bags at the grocery store and stuff.  We tried to talk her into making them for sale but she didn't go for it.  Perhaps you could do that!  Yeah, they might not be $1 a bag like the el cheapo ones the stores offer but with all of the variety in fabrics they will be much prettier and better made.

Hmm, I just may do that :) I'm actually also trying to find organic fabrics online, I know they're a little more expensive buuuuttt, well you know. & somehow, they're comfier... Like my organic sheets... glorious.

I think this is the pattern we googled up for my Mom's Shopping bag gift project.  if it's not, it was very similar to this: http://sewing.about.com/od/bagstotespurseproject/ss/grocerybag.htm but she has a lining on the inside too.  Just more food for thought is all.
