Matt's rocks rock!
« on: August 17, 2009, 04:01:10 PM »
So I'm totally jealous of Matt aka dragonclaw (i.e. I loved Oregon the time I got to spend there briefly 5 years ago) and his rock hounding trip he posted about recently and I have had some ideas for some jewelry with small stones so I ordered one of his bundles and OMG I'm gonna be busy for months.

I took photos of everything and put them on my blog and have been blathering on Facebook so please if you've been thinking about getting your socks knocked off by lovely rocks, do eet.

Thanks for the positive comments.
Here's a couple of corrections in your identies of the stones, the cabachon in the first pic is jasper not wood ???   The fourth pic (marked jasper1) has an agate at the top (white one that's slightly out of focus), the piece in the foreground is poppy jasper. Jasper3 pic.. the two black stones with white bands, are called blue agate. The last pis marked agate has a piece of white quartz in the foreground (the one tha's opaque white w/dark marks in it.

Cool, I was going to ask you about some of the stones that didn't fit neatly into some of the categories.

I will go on your flickr pics and add some corrections and identifiers there too!
