Anger Management 101
« on: July 25, 2009, 10:00:42 AM »
The name says it all, one idea turned into pure rage and when it wasn't working right I started to throw it against a cement wall in my studio and what was one a 6" x 6" piece of copper sheet, is now "Anger Management 101".  When all the smashing was done, I threw it about 20 times, I sanded it down a little and ground "F_CK!" into the side of it.  This piece is actually for sale and if you are interested I will take the best offer for it.

If this offends anyone, or if anyone can't appreciate it, then you obviously aren't pushing your creativity enough to the point of insanity.

ah man - none of us do that!

I however did refrain from throwing the butterfly out the window last night!  too much work into it already - still going to try to rescue it!  leadfree solder just doesn't work quite the same as the leaded stuff and trying to get a nice bead all at once on a stained glass piece that someone wants to use as a pendant got to be a tad frustrating!

DDLTD - what were you trying to do with that piece of copper???

Today I flipped the bird at a unakite bead that rolled off my studio table 4 times in about 2 minutes! As if it knew what that meant LOL   ;D

And yes, I cuss. Loudly. Regularly. In my studio shop.  One of these days I'm gonna let fly just as a customer walks through the door.  :o

Kris:

I had an amazing idea that I intend to pull off, its just going to take some time before I can really get it done, but its an amazing concept.  Until then...its just a hunk of copper!

AAAhhha one of those!!! Well I really hope it works out - without too many more pieces of copper ending up like this one!  do be sure to post the picture of the success -

and I posted this quote someplace else - but think it fits this situation nicely:

I think it's great that you are pushing your creativity!

LOL...my poor hubby totally understands the anger management thing.  We both have big tempers...Me...I'm half mexican...that's my excuse (however poor that is) and his is PTSD from Iraq...his therapist gave him a little card that says STOP!!! Is this really worth going to Jail for??? hehehe   As far as anger management...if all else fails...take the shotgun out and go shoot a can...the kick back will totally cool you down...plus you will have a sore shoulder...TRUST ME!!!

Marcimallow

P.S.  On the sore shoulder...our chickens are worth more than dogs...don't worry we use bird shot and it only stuns them...never killed anything except a squirrel for our dog...

That's brilliant and what a story to go with it  -I bet some of that anger and passion has seeped into the metallic structure of the copper

Well, I feel worlds better after reading all these f'ing frustration posts.  ;D

I hold back too much to throw stuff, but I break out into a cold sweat and can get to the point of wanting to twist my own head off when I'm ruining a piece of silver wire for the second or third time.

I have three stages of anger
1) Stubborn, I will keep trying to MAKE it work then end up screwing it up more.
2) Pissed, at the piece (eg. "you stupid piece or crap", "F*ckin piece of s**t", language gets worse the longer I keep trying). It is the materials fault or the machines or whatever I am working with, it is NOT the human!
3)Final stage, Cry.

I will add a 4th stage now... Condolence or self pity: take pics and post on HAF for everyone to enjoy or compare.
