Thanks!  Dyeing wool the color you want is such an adventure.  You never really know what  you are going to get.

Do you harvest your own wool and spin it or do you just concentrate on dying pre-spun wool?

I do not shear sheep, it is a tricky thing to do and I would really hate
to hurt the sheep so I leave that to an expert.  I have taken a raw
fleece and cleaned it but it was way more trouble than it was worth esp.
if people don't coat their sheep.  I do buy the raw fleece from a sheep
farm and send it off to the big companies that wash and clean it then
send it back to me where I comb it, dye it and then comb it again to
make one of a kind roving and batts so yes I can do all that but I
don't, it would take my entire work day to do that and I probably
couldn't make a living off of it.  I am not a spinner so I don't make
yarn, I am a felter.  I make cloth out of the sheep fleeces.  It is the earliest way to make cloth  even older than from weaving.

Do you sell the felt cloth?  Is it expensive?  Why I ask is I make my dolls from wool felt and was wondering if it could be used for that or would it be a waste of good cloth?

Well it would depend on how much you need as to figuring out the cost of the cloth but no I don't think it would be too expensive if you don't make huge dolls.  If you know what colors and sizes you need, I could give you some idea of the prices.  Often I make something and have doll size pieces of felted material left over so that is a cheap answer too.

My dolls are between 3 and 6 inches high and maybe at the most 4 inches wide.  They are stuffed and then beaded.
Email me with prices at maliner_njm@yahoo.com

Thanks,
