Business Card Holders
« on: October 10, 2015, 09:42:44 AM »
OK, what do you all use?  I need new ones, seem to have misplaced mine, and would really like to replace them with one that closes.  I'm picturing like a cassette tape case, but without the nubs inside so I could keep cards constantly stocked in it and just flip it open at aa face painting gig or craft fair.  It'd also be perfect to pass out to other artists at multi-artist gigs working under my name.

Does anyone have anything like what I'm picturing?  Where'd you get it?

If not, do you think there'd be a market for it?  Eric has a client who's a manufacturer of plastic items, but it's not the kind of company that'd make just a few.

Those are pretty.  I have that sort, I'm thinking more of the desktop kind.

I have some plastic ones that I got years ago from some office supply store. The other one I use is actually made from a stone. It has a felt bottom and a groove cut into it for the cards. It holds about 15 cards a a time. I had them at my store. The girl who made them just disappeared after the death of her husband. Maybe River Rock Arts can make one for you.

Yeah, that sounds cool, but it's nothing like what I want.  I want it to hold a LOT of cards at once; at most gigs, I don't have time in between painting to replenish them, and at big events, people take a lot more than 15 cards.  And I specifically want them with a hinged or lift-off lid so the cards can be stored in them.  The one below is the one I settled for until I find something more suitable.  This would be perfect if it had some sort of hinged or lift-off lid.

LOL!  I hear that!

My problem, especially as a face painter, is standing out as a professional amongst all the "hobby moms" out there.  It's how I justify charging $125/hour for what I do, y'know?

I understand!    Image is important...     Mine isn't all that important  since I conduct a good bit of mine in my robe.....   sometimes  early  ....   sometimes late.   Retired folk can do that

I have a holder in my head that would probably work well for you, if it exists, or if I can figure it out. Im thinking of something that works similar to those post-it-note single note dispensers. Where you live, or where you travel for face painting, look to see if there is a japanese office/stationary store, they will probably have something. I go to one in SF to get pocket card holders. The latest one I got presents a card when you open it.

I saw on pinterest this awesome business holder, where it is just an empty cassette case, if you have any of those left, you can just flip them outside down and voila! :)

Yes, it's an idea I posted in my original post up there ^^.  I used to do that, but I don't want to do that anymore, because it's unprofessional.
