Pictured Left: hand tooled custom leather billfold / biker style wallet. I tooled a new skull design of mine with a a little twist of flames added just for fun (my original design, it was hand drawn – copyright Southpaw Art) I dyed the wallet two levels of red ( darker in person than in pictures) then paint black areas to make the skull and flames stand out finally added black double loop lacing along the outside, the inside hand made with two money pockets under the four pockets for your cards(two each side). This wallet has over six hours of hand tooling, dying, and lacing all hand done by me. One brushed metal grommet was added to hook a wallet chain through. There are several wallet chains in my shop if your interested in a package deal email for a price. Size: approx 6″ long , approx 3 3/4″ wide (folded), approx 1/2″ thick (folded)

 

 

 

I have been working at leather for several years. That does not mean the learning is over, Each new day there is something to new to learn. Each handmade product has many hours of work in it, even the smallest thing can take hours to finish. I start with a nice piece of veg tan leather, transfer the design to it and after getting the right amount of moisture in the leather it is ready to be cut and tooled. In some cases this is not just a one time thing. After the hours of tooling, the blocking and dye can be applied, but I’m far from a finished product. It may need hand made inner pockets or slots for the lacing punched through. If it has to be laced, there will still be several hours of lacing to go. The last step is a finishing coat to seal the leather
