New Store in Roswell, GA

Designers and Artists,

Handmade Stores in GeorgiaMany of you know I have been working on opening a designer’s/artist’s co-op in Roswell. We have secured a location on Atlanta Street across from Roswell Square and have plans for a soft opening on April 1, 2011. I invite you to participate by responding to me as quickly as possible to be a part of the first month (April) RENT FREE. We will collect a 20% sales commission on all sold items for that month. We will also have a cafe and will serve food made by Cafe at Pharr which should attract many new faces.

The store will be filled on a first come, first served basis, barring redundancy of products. I will accept only a certain amount of jewelers, children’s wear, ceramics, etc. All items must be handmade/designed and we are trying to focus on local artists first. The goal is to get as many of you onto marketing materials as soon as possible. The plan is to continue with an option to rent space (from $50 on up) depending on the size, with a starting contract of 6 months. I have been shopping for fixtures, shelving, cash wrap and electronic equipment to get started. I welcome any suggestions, ideas and support as this will be my first full time store. This area is ripe for business and I know we can be successful.

I am especially hopeful for the Mother’s Day event being held on the square, across from the shop and await approval to put tents in the parking lot in front of the store as an additional draw.

Feel free to contact me by phone or better yet, email. Looking forward to a grand start.

  • Wow! This sounds like an amazing opportunity, but it seems as if you really need to live somewhere close by to take advantage of it. I wish everyone awesome sales and hope that this has huge success!!

no, no, not true. I will accept many items through the mail and merchandise it for you. I have participated in a co-op like this in Fire Island, NY and did extremely well. Please let me know if I can fill you in in any way.

Congratulations and best of luck! Your place sounds very similar to mine here in NC. It is a lot of work, but it’s so fun to see all the new stuff people create and to meet new people. Having events near your shop is always great! We always get large amounts of people when they are going on, and luckily this town has something every month except for Jan.

Uh, I don’t think there are any books like that, and almost definitely none that give you working steampunk doodads. The aesthetics are covered pretty well all over the internet. Just google ‘how to steampunk’, there’s probably even a Wikihow around.
