Memories of Christmas Past-Part 2
As previously described in my posting, “Memories of Christmas Past-Part 1“, this time of year causes many of us to become nostalgic and take trips down memory lane. One area I began reflecting upon were the many handmade treasures my mother made for us when we were children.
Many things my mother made included upcycled items. Of the many ornaments she designed, some also included an upcycled item here and there. I was very impressed at how quickly the upcycled item was identified for my doily angel.
The next items are a pair of ornaments. How they are decorated is probably easy to decipher. There are various options available today that will give you the white color. Note it was hard to show the sparkle that these have in the light I was working with. So for fun, see if you can list the items used to decorate them.
In this case, the upcycled item is what they are made out of. Depending on where you live, you may or may not be familiar with this item. But then again, it will be fun to get more guesses before someone figures it out.
As before, I will watch the replies, and if no one guesses it, I will post the answer in a reply.

Well, let’s see, the tree has sequins and I think beads – but what they are made with? mmmm I’m thinking some kind of basket, like a berry basket or something similar?
The tree looks to me like an a/c filter.
I think they are paper drinking straws.
Well, reflections got it !!! Square plastic green berry baskets. She would mark the bottom with the pattern and then cut it out. Then she would paint them, sprinkle with glitter and finish with sequins or any kind of decoration. Simple, but a great example of upcycling!! The variety of snowflake patterns she could come up with always amazed me 🙂
Love that snowflake!
It threw me off that they were white -they sort of looked like styrofoam – it took a few minutes to figure out that the snowflake was also made with the baskets – very clever!
