On Fire for Handmade Shout Out
Honeysuckle Salvage is this weeks Handmade Artist Shop Shout Out. You will find truly stunning works of art in these outstanding books turned into art! Pictured Left: Origami Heart Folded Book This piece features an original sketch of a heart, which has been transformed into this one of a kind work of art. Each page is folded by hand, which makes this a time-consuming process. Our book origami pieces are never cut, glued, or otherwise altered—THEY REALLY ARE CREATED BY FOLDING EACH AND EVERY PAGE.
Meet the Artist
We started with an idea: create art and functional items from salvaged books. And so, Honeysuckle Salvage was born. Our collection began with device covers created from books — iPad covers, Kindle covers, etc. We added jewelry, mixed media art, and other pieces — all created from books!
Over time, the idea for our collection of book origami came to life. I started sketching designs and studying them until the idea became a reality. I focus on creating pieces that haven’t been done before — completely ORIGINAL designs you won’t find anywhere else. The first piece was our Bat Book Origami in October of 2012. Since then we’ve added such unique creations as Sasquatch Book Origami, Bee Book Origami, Mary Poppins Book Origami — with new ideas coming to life every day.

I saw these going up in the shop, they blow my mind! I just showed my husband and he thinks they’re insane. I adore the Holmes one & would love one done using an old Sherlock Holmes novel. That would be the coolest! I just need the cash…
