Why Are Halloween Colors Orange and Black?
I was curious why Halloween colors are orange and black, so I did some research. There seems to be a couple of answers to this question.
It seems that the most popular answer is that it relates back to the Celtics and the Druids. They had a ceremony on October 31 or so each year called Samhain, which meant “summer’s end.” It called upon the gods to give them the strength and fortitude to get them through the long cold winter ahead. As part of this ceremony, they burned beeswax candles (which were orange) around a black-cloth-draped casket.
I also found some information tying feng-shui into this choice as well. These two colors are opposite energies. Orange is lively and happy – the warmth of a fire or bounty of a good fall harvest. Black is the color of mystery and void. So the two together are a perfect match.
I honestly don’t know which is correct, as I couldn’t find a definitive source to settle it. But I know more about it now than I did before!

Very cool! I am somewhat familiar with Samhain being interested in the Druids and Celtic stuff.
