Featured Artist – The Yellow Ribbon

My parents instilled in me the importance of being “handy.” Mom taught me how to sew, install a toilet, embroider, knit and crochet. My dad taught me how to tar a roof, make necklaces and bracelets, how to spackle and put up dry wall. We are a very crafty family and I want to share that with other people.

I’ll be featuring those skills (guess which ones!) in the items I list in my etsy shop.  Proud member of  the EtsyNJ and HAF street teams.

  • LOL! I am pretty good at “toiletry” myself! I think your work is beautiful. I believe individuals that are able to “fix” things are also gifted with creativity because they can work through problems utilizing only their imaginations! I often worry that imagination is a dying art! Great to see you have a wonderful grasp on it!

  • LOL! When I was 12, I helped my dad and grandfather re-shingle our roof. Where was my brother? On the ground, too scared to go up the ladder! I was in-charge of going through the scraps and finding ones to fit at the ends, to reduce waste–it was a 60s prairie-style hipped-roof, so LOTS of angles. These days, you probably couldn’t get me on a roof again. But I still try to get everything I can out of my fabric scraps, wire, and beads.
    Great pieces, Yellow Ribbon!
