Featured Artist – MookieJones

I always enjoy writing these features, but this is one I  that I am truly excited to write.  I  admire anyone who can paint well, but Cookie of MookieJones doesn’t just paint well, she paints exceptionally well!  Cookie is not only a self taught artist, she has also shared her passion  by teaching both adult and childrens painting classes.   If you are looking for a realistic style painting, this is the lady to see.  

The really fun aspect of Cookie’s art is that she not only paints on canvases, she also paints on terracotta pots, wood trays, water color paper, and furniture.    You can find original paintings, ACEO’S,  prints, and giclee prints.   I also happen to know that this fabulous artist will often hand embellish her prints,  giving each one a personal touch.    If you want a different size print than the one listed, be sure to ask her about the size you want – she did one especially for me, and it is beatiful. 

It takes not only talent, but years of study and practice to be able to produce realistic syle paintings, but Cookie often takes her paintings one step further by introducing a bit of trompe l’oeil in her paintings.  I also love the little bits of humor in her paintings as in the wood frame with the Labrador Retriever with a Saturday To Do List as a Post It Note – 1st on the list:  Errands (which has been crossed out) 2. Relax, 3. Nap – sounds like a great Saturday to do list to me!
