Featured Artist – Memories In Mosiacs
My children have been out of the home for many years now so I have had the time to experiment with a lots of different crafts from faux finishing to painting children’s furniture, but when I started doing mosaics I knew this was something that would become my passion.
Memories in Mosaics came about when I was trying to find a way to incorporate all the beautiful dishes and jewelry that I inherited from my mother-in-law into one area. A “memory” mosaic seemed like the logical choice as I could display bits and pieces of my keepsakes and yet retain the memory. My experiences up to this point with mosaic was creating tabletops and backsplashes with broken ceramic tiles so I had to teach myself through much trial and error how to encase these fragile pieces into grout and still have it resemble something.
My family and friends started asking me to make them a custom mosaic and it was so much fun that I started designing pieces just for sale. My mirrors and frames are sold on Etsy at www.memoriesinmosaics.etsy.com as well as in a specialty shop located in Cocoa, Florida. I also have a blog called Chris’ Comments at www.cbcrafter.blogspot.com where I display some of my custom work as well as other articles. I am also a member of PieceMakers Mosaic Artists and Design Style Guide
