Featured Artist Jilly Beans
Sometimes our love of creating get pushed to the wayside by life as I am sure most creative souls can understand just as Jill can. A mother of 4 and grandmother of 6, her husband gave her a sewing machine for a wedding present 35 years ago and with it she used to sew for her children while they were young, but put it aside to join the workforce outside the home. It wasn’t until her daughter asked her wedding gown which led to two more after that and the sewing machine came back out, and this time it is here to stay.
As if her life wasn’t full enough, Jill has a passion for the outdoors and loves to cook, read, and crochet…and of course sew! When she began, Jill didn’t have a car, so she used to walk the kids to the local fabric shop where they would give her a discount if she was willing to let them display her work (I always wondered who made those clothes!). This allowed Jill to create darling outfits for her own children as well as for her friend’s kids. Even after joining the outside workforce, Jill continued to create wonderful handmade gifts for friends and family following in her mother’s crafty footprints.
Over the years these lucky friends encouraged Jill to sell her works, and JillyBeans was born. After taking a bad fall and being off of work, Jill opened an Etsy shop and later moved to HandmadeArtists’, and we are so glad she did! JillyBeans is full of wonderful treasures for children as well as for your home; everything from aprons and quilts, to darling dresses and baby items. Lesson learned; never stop doing what you love!
Are you ready to see what this talented grandmother can do with a sewing machine and fabric? Well, JillyBeans is easy to find on HandmadeArtists and you can follow her on Facebook. But don’t say I didn’t warn you when you find yourself sucked into unbelievable cuteness that is JillyBeans!
