Featured Artist – Chainmaille By MBOI
We’ve been doing these Featured Artist articles for a bit now, but there are 2 artists who have not been featured, who are very important to this blog and the Handmade Artists Forum, that’s Mr and Mrs MBOI! AKA Andrew and Kimberly, who created Handmade Artists Forum, and this blog.
This fantastic couple who live in Point Pleasant, NJ, are the parents of 2 boys who keep them running. I also know that Andrew plays softball. How they find time to do all they do, amazes me. They not only make some gorgeous chainmaille jewelry, and other items, they also tweet and stumble all the artist’s posted creations. They have also started a Facebook page, and I believe a Myspace page for HAF in the works. So, they are making sure that all the artists who participate in the forum get promoted in a variety of ways.
Andrew not only holds down a job as an estimator for a heavy construction company, he also creates some of the most beautiful chainmaille I’ve ever seen. Kimberly who is currently finishing up her degree in Education (YAY Kimberly) also makes some absolutely beautiful chainmaille – along with a few other creative items (but that’s for another post!)
While creating their chainmaille, Andrew and Kimberly really do it “Handmade”, they start with the raw wire, coil it, and saw cut it. That’s dedication. Between the two of them, they do create some exquisite jewelry. They also have some fun little items such as keychains, and small celtic star pendants. Although they specialize in Sterling Silver, they also use a variety of other metals, including: Bronze, Copper, Aluminum, and more.
Take a peak at Chainmaille By MBOI, I’m sure you will find something you just can’t live without – and if you can’t, they will be more than happy to work on a custom made piece just for you.
Thank You Andrew and Kimberly for HAF!
