Featured Artist – BeadGal
I’ve never been much of an artist or craftsperson, until last September. While considering taking on a new hobby, I became intrigued with the idea of creating handmade jewelry. I purchased a number of books and magazines on the subject and read each one in earnest. I then mustered up the courage to sign on for jewelry workshops offered by my local bead store, along with nearby bead conventions. The books and workshops have all been tremendously helpful and they’ve succeeded in getting me hooked on beads and wire.
As for what I create, it’s easy to see that I’m most attracted to Swarovski crystals and pearls, but I adore gemstones also. I really enjoy wire wrapping, so my goal is to perfect my skill in this technique. I recently purchased a Wig Jig and am eager to take it for a test drive. Over the past year I’ve made a number of pieces using copper wire in order to practice with wrapping. For now, I’m highly rewarded by, and having a good time just making jewelry that I find appealing, and that suits my level of experience.
Thank you for taking the time to read this little story about me, and happy creating to you!
