Featured Artist Anne of Helping Hands Graphic Designs
Have you ever met someone whose brain is always in high gear? They are always thinking of the next thing and ready for an adventure. That about sums up Anne of On Fire for Handmade!
Anne is a firecracker that lives happily with her husband of 19 years, her 93 year old mother and her four legged children. When she is not spreading the word about her own creations and handmade in general around the internet, you can find Anne on the piano, working in the yard or having a movie fest in her own home!
Anne’s mother taught her to crochet and embroider as a child, not knowing that she might be creating a monster! The result of this support of her creative spirit is a house that is regularly repainted, just to freshen things up a bit and more craft supplies “than Carter has liver pills!” Art and creativity is definitely her life. She loves to knit and crochet and even has been known to dabble a bit in oils and pastels.
As we all know, life can change in an instant, and such was the case in 2008. The economy was heading south and Anne was laid off. Rather than crawl into a hole and pout, she took it upon herself to change her own direction and has not looked back; the result is Oaklies Fashions. She began cranking out her amazing scarves and later added colorful AAA BAG to her online shop geared towards women that love a fun look. Because she lives in high gear, Anne soon began adding banners and avatars for other’s online shops!
While all this should have kept Anne plenty busy, she had to add one more avenue to her life. She created a site called On Fire for Handmade which is geared; you guessed it, to supporting artists around the world. She features weekly themed finds in which you can find some amazing new talent as well as known favorites. On Fire for Handmade is steadily gaining a following in the handmade community and surely helping artists get their name out to the world.
Anne believes in supporting others in their pursuit of art and encourages others to be absolutely true to yourself and your art…never give up! The journey is truly exciting and there is always more to learn about yourself, your art, and selling your work. The road is not an easy one, but it is a rewarding one!
