A Touch of Glass Jewelry
There is nothing more amazing than to find someone that truly does something completely different than anyone else with a medium. Brenda, creative super power behind A Touch Of Glass Jewelry, is one such artist that takes a known medium, fused glass, and puts her own twist on it to make it truly unique. After much time spent researching and experimenting, Brenda managed to create a way to paint beautiful ladies onto her glass pendants. These ladies each have a personality all their own with different themes and feels.
Brenda is the proud mother of 3 children and 5 grandchildren. For over 20 years, she was a hard working real estate agent…and then the market turned…downward! So what did she do? Well, she took her love of creating and turned her hobby into a business.
A Touch Of Glass did not start out as a kid ready to set the art world on fire. In fact, her 9th grade art teacher actually told her that she was not really that creative and that maybe art wasn’t for her. Ha! Shows what she knows! Actually, looking back, Brenda seemed to have a creative streak from a very early age. At around 5, she was sitting in church and didn’t want to chew on her gum anymore. Of course, she didn’t want to bother her mom with what to do with the gum…so she got creative! Brenda sculpted a tiny penguin out of the used gum…and was quite proud of it. So proud in fact that she took it home with her and painted it! Now, I would dare any of us to think to create a penguin out of used gum in church and not call that creative!
Brenda has never taken a formal, adult art class but is always researching, learning and growing. According to her brother, her ladies are actually portraits of her and her sister from years gone by…after a closer look, she realized that he was right!
Since Brenda began selling her creations, she has learned a few things about selling your work. For one, selling gives you a lot of freedom but it also can be lonely. There is little socializing, outside of the internet and it can become boring. Another difficultly is the uncertainty…surely no steady paycheck, but more of a series of ups and downs that you have to pan for.
A Touch Of Glass started out on auction sites in order to get established. After a time, Brenda has expanded to a number of sites such as TheHandmadeArtistsShop, Etsy, and ArtFire. Her fans have many places to see and buy her wonderful creations. Never seen Painted Ladies? Check out her sites and prepare to be amazed.
