There has been a lot of talk lately about sales…where are they and who’s getting them. And there has been a lot of talk about the role social media plays in your on-line business. We all know that selling on line is a team effort, if only to help us keep our sanity. But cross promotion (with self-promotion) will increase your virtual presence in the super huge World Wide Web.  Looking at the rings that are offered here at Handmade Artists, there are many ways to promote, but not a lot of participation, so Pam at BeadThing and I have gotten together to brain storm ways to make all the promotion more fun and easy so more people will participate, and this is the plan…we are “combining” the blog ring, the twitter ring, and the facebook ring.  Starting this Sunday, May 5th, we will start a new thread for each ring on the forum, looking for people excited to join and have fun.  Then we will start the rings, with new “rules” as follows.

 On Sunday we will announce a “theme” that will be followed by all rings, and from that theme each blogger in the blog ring will write a post including an item from a featured shop, and item from their shop, and an item from any other artist that they choose.  

 Then the tweeters and facebookers will share the blog posts, and make their own tweets and posts that follow the theme, promoting the featured shop and their own shop.  After you have posted, tweeted, and blogged, come back to the threads to post and tweet the other links.  The theme will last 2 weeks, and there may be a surprise posted during each theme.  While there will be a signup thread for each ring, you can come and go as you please, but the featured shops will only be shops that faithfully participate.  I hope this isn’t too confusing, SEO is confusing enough…but we need to help each other get our items out there for the world to see and enjoy.  And have fun in the process.
